Since 2003, the Geelong Foot Clinic has been supporting the community through various charity walks including:

  • Kerro’s Crusade (2007) - Perth to Albany
  • Boonies Walk for Hope (2005) - Melbourne to Hobart
  • Deano’s Walk for Leukaemia (2003) - Sydney to Melbourne

A celebrity charity walk was organized by friends of the Motor Neurone Disease Association from Perth to Albany. Ken Judge headlined the walk along with his wife Annette and seven other colleagues, all of whom had been touched by the dreadfull Motor Neurone Disease.

The 720km journey raised not only over $400,000 but also well needed awareness of the devastating disease.

Each day a new celebrity joined the crusade including Kim Hughes, Ross Glendinning, Sean McManus, Paul Wilson, Colin “Funky” Miller, Alan Boarder and many more.

Our very own Sarah Clarke volunteered her professional services to provide well needed support and medical attention to the walkers. This was one of the most challenging walks with medical supplies being exhausted by the end of the first week. However, many blisters later, bunion, ankle, knee and hip pain, four visits to local doctors, every walker and support crew were able to walk across the finish line in Albany.

David Boon took on one of the greatest challenges of his life to walk from Melbourne to Hobart in 20 days. He left the MCG with wife Pip on the 20 day journey to Bellerive Oval in Tasmania. He was joined by celebrity friends and former teams mates along the way.

David raised over $600,000 for the Bone Marrow Donor Institute with the help of our podiatrist Sarah Clarke to get him there. David and his wife Pip suffered daily blisters, plantar fascial strains, chronic blood blisters under toenails and shin pain. With medical supplies generously donated by Briggate Medical Company, Sarah patched up the Boons daily to enable them to complete their journey.

Dean Jones and wife Jane set out on an epic journey from Sydney to Melbourne to raise money for the Bone Marrow Donor Institute. He was joining with other celebrities including Alan Boarder, Doug Hawkins, Andrew Startin, Peter Lonard, Tara Moss, PM John Howard, Paul Salmon, Greg Chapple and many more.

After 4 weeks of walking, Deano and crew walked into the MCG Boxing Day Test with a cheque for over $1 million dollars for the Bone Marrow Donor Institute.

Once again Sarah Clarke volunteered her time to provide medical support to the walkers. Daily blisters, strains and sprains ensured Sarah didn’t have a moments rest while keeping them all on the road. She was privileged to treat many profile sportspeople and also contribute towards such a worthy cause.
